Astronaut Scott Kelly got home two nights ago, and by home I mean he actually came back to earth after a year in space. One of the reasons for his trip was so that NASA could conduct a “twin study.” He is the twin brother of astronaut Mark Kelly (who you may also know as the husband of Rep. Gabby Giffords) and the two agreed to be part of a study that would take a look at the effects of space on the body.

The study, it appears, was a success. Though the two brothers started off at the same height, Scott came back a full two inches taller than his twin due to the spinal elongation that occurs in space. A few space walks will do that to a person, it seems.
According to Good 4 Utah, this lengthening of the spine is temporary and Scott will return to his original height eventually.
