Trump Lauds Tiger Woods After Fox & Friends Shows Golfer Politely Commenting on POTUS

President Donald Trump and Tiger Woods have had a friendly relationship over the years. And based on comments Sunday by the golfer, followed by a Monday morning presidential tweet, it appears that relationship is still in tact.

Following the final round of the Northern Trust Open at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ, Woods fielded a question from a reporter about the president. He responded by basically punting on the question in polite fashion.

“He is the president of the United States,” Woods said. “And you have to respect the office. And no matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike [their] personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

The comments were played on Fox & Friends — first at 7:10 a.m. ET, and then again one hour later. At 9:37 a.m. ET, Trump, presumably DVR-ing, lauded the golfer for not taking a shot at him.

“The Fake News Media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say something that he didn’t want to say,” Trump wrote. “Tiger wouldn’t play the game – he is very smart. More importantly, he is playing great golf again!”
