Trump Promotes Kavanaugh’s Fox News Interview, Stands Behind SCOTUS Nominee: ‘Must Be Treated Fairly!’

President Donald Trump is, for now, publicly standing behind his Supreme Court nominee.
In a Monday afternoon tweet, the president encouraged his followers to tune into Monday night’s Fox News interview featuring Brett Kavanaugh and his wife Ashley Estes Kavanaugh — and called for them to be treated “fairly.”
“Brett Kavanaugh and his wife, Ashley, will be interviewed tonight at 7pmE on @marthamaccallum @FoxNews,” Trump wrote. “This is an outstanding family who must be treated fairly!

In already-released excerpts of the interview, the SCOTUS nominee maintained his innocence against charges of sexual misconduct from Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez. He also said he has no plans to withdraw, and will continue to seek the appointment to the Court.
“I’m not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process,” Kavanaugh said. “And we’re looking for a fair process where I can be heard and defend my integrity, my lifelong record of promoting dignity & equality for women, starting with the women who knew me when I was 14 years old.”
