Trump Reportedly Got Annoyed With Christie Trying to Photobomb Him on Election Night
A new report today sheds light on why Chris Christie may have been removed from his position as head of President-elect Donald Trump‘s transition team.
Yahoo News spoke with a source close to Trump’s team, who said the real estate mogul was “annoyed” with a certain New Jersey governor who was in the room with him on Election Night. Evidently, Trump felt that Christie kept trying to work his way into the center of photographers as Trump gave his acceptance speech amid a crowd of his closest supporters.
Trump was also reportedly angry with Christie for not showing up for work enough, and not choosing White House staff to Trump’s liking:
“There were just some things that were not handled appropriately or done to a level of satisfaction and professionalism,” the source said.
Previous reports suggested that Christie was demoted from his role because Trump became upset over how he handled the Bridgegate scandal. Christie was replaced by Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who dismissed many of the people that Christie pegged to serve in the upcoming administration.
On Sunday, Christie met with Trump as the real-estate mogul was holding transition meetings at his New Jersey golf course. Trump wouldn’t say whether Christie would have a position in his administration, but he shook hands with him in front of reporters and called the governor a “real smart and tough” person.
