At a listening session for healthcare today, President Donald Trump commented on the Affordable Care Act, claiming that it is becoming popular now because the media is making it look good. He also seems to feel that people are liking it because it will soon be taken away.
“The press is making Obamacare look so good, all of a sudden,” he stated. “I’m watching the news. Looks so good. They are showing reports about this one gets so much and this one gets so much.”
After claiming that the law actually covers “very few people” and is “imploding,” he explained that Republicans are putting themselves in a bad position because the positive impacts of the GOP healthcare bill (if passed) won’t be felt for years.
“If we end it,” Trump exclaimed. “Everyone is going to say remember how great Obamacare used to be? Remember how wonderful it used to be? It was so great.”
He added, “It’s a little bit like President Obama. When he left, people liked him. When he was here, people didn’t like him so much.”
