Trump Tweets About Why He’s Not Calling China a Currency Manipulator

During the election, President Trump said he would call China a currency manipulator on day one. Last week he said in an interview, “They’re not currency manipulators.”
The Wall Street Journal said Trump explained during the interview that he made this decision because “China hasn’t been manipulating its currency for months and because taking the step now could jeopardize his talks with Beijing on confronting the threat of North Korea.”
The president brought up the latter point in a tweet this morning, though he did add “We will see what happens!”:
Why would I call China a currency manipulator when they are working with us on the North Korean problem? We will see what happens!

In addition to talking about this on the campaign trail, Trump was also critical of his predecessor for not doing so:
Once again Obama fails to classify China as a currency manipulator. He just helped China steal even more jobs and money from us.
