Trump’s Anti-Semitic Comments From 2015 Resurface After His Call For Ilhan Omar to Resign

After President Donald Trump called for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to resign due to her comments against the pro-Israel group AIPAC, a 2015 clip of the then-candidate Trump telling a Jewish group “I’m a negotiator like you folks” has resurfaced.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One today that the freshman progressive lawmaker should resign either “Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.”

“I think she should be ashamed of herself,” he added, later saying that Omar “knows what to say” in reference to her tweets about AIPAC lobbying spending which was criticized by prominent Democrats, among others, as an anti-Semitic trope.

However, Trump’s confident condemnation resulted in reporters resurfacing a clip of POTUS pushing anti-Semitic tropes while speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition in Washington, D.C. four years ago.

“You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money,” Trump said at the time. “You want to control your own politicians.”

He also told the group that he is “a negotiator like you folks; we’re negotiators.”

“And by the way, did you ever see a negotiation take so long?” He added, in reference to former President Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear deal.

Additionally, in 2016, Trump’s infamous Star of David tweet was widely condemned as anti-Semitic.

“Crooked Hillary – – Makes History!” Trump wrote in a post that included a meme originally shared on a white supremacist site, which showed Hillary Clinton’s face in a Star of David next to piles of cash and the label, “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever!”
