Twitter Blows Up Over Trump Not Declassifying Dem Memo Yet: ‘#ReleaseTheMemo’
President Trump has decided not to declassify the Democratic rebuttal memo yet, though the White House says he’s “inclined” to, and Twitter had a field day.
Some Democrats were pretty critical of Trump’s decision, especially top House Intel Democrat Adam Schiff:
After ignoring urging of FBI & DOJ not to release misleading Nunes memo because it omits material facts, @POTUS now expresses concerns over sharing precisely those facts with public and seeks to send it back to the same Majority that produced the flawed Nunes memo to begin with: pic.twitter.com/qNVyS99eXs

Refusal to release Democratic response to #NunesMemo – evidence of obstruction of justice by Donald Trump happening in real time.
— Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) February 10, 2018
.@realDonaldTrump’s double standard when it comes to transparency is appalling. The rationale for releasing the #NunesMemo, transparency, vanishes when it could show information that’s harmful to him. Millions of Americans are asking one simple question: what is he hiding?
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) February 10, 2018
This move by @realDonaldTrump confirms what we have all known for weeks — that his decision to release the #NunesMemo was a blatantly political move made without concern for national security. The hypocrisy is on full display. What does the President have to hide?

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. Both GOP & Dems voted to release Dem memo. I read it and am convinced @realDonaldTrump is now intentionally hiding relevant information from the American people in order to mislead the public. An innocent person would not block the memo.#ReleaseTheDemMemo https://t.co/f2bCtid8DQ

#BREAKING: Trump just blocked the #DemocraticMemo that sets record straight on @HouseGOP attempt to undermine #TrumpRussia probe.
Americans deserve the truth and this only raises more red flags. RT to demand Trump #ReleaseTheMemo.https://t.co/NzLvYVe38u

Donald Trump will not declassify the Democratic memo. In response, @RepSwalwell says the only way to "make sure that the FBI's reputation is not unfairly tainted is to give the American people the full picture." https://t.co/cjd2JqvB0S pic.twitter.com/bF7aAjBEzH

Even one Republican congressman, Justin Amash, said he thinks the Democrats’ memo should be released just as the initial one was:
Both the Republican and Democratic #FISA memos should be released. I’ve read both memos. Neither one endangers national security. The American people deserve the opportunity to read both memos.

A lot of other people had critical thoughts too:
Reminder as Trump says he's unable to declassify the Dems' memo: DOJ publicly expressed "grave concern" over the Nunes memo and Trump released it anyway. DOJ has not expressed concern, at least not publicly, over the Dems' memo.

Nobody* could have predicted that the White House would block the Democratic memo that was intended to provide honest context the Nunes memo dishonestly omitted.
*Everybody

Trump claims the memo is just under audit. https://t.co/ZyIoEcvqxL

.@realDonaldTrump Is terrified to #ReleaseTheMemo of the Democrats because he's terrified of the truth being revealed.

Friday night. He blocks the memo laying out how full of shit the GOP shills are. And still no sanctions on Russia. https://t.co/SVkwp4KTlA

I hate the games both sides are playing with these memos, but Trump releasing the Nunes memo over the objections of the FBI/Justice Dept while blocking the Schiff one will certainly raise some eyebrows. https://t.co/8PwrVou2XG

Imagine my overwhelming surprise that Trump is blocking the release of the Democrats’ memo.
