Twitter Has a Field Day with CNN Turning the Empire State Building Red for Trump Win
The Empire State Building turned red tonight to signal a Donald Trump win, owing to a partnership with CNN over tonight’s New York primary election.
If Ted Cruz had won, CNN would have made the Empire State Building––as Jake Tapper described it––a more “coral” color. And if John Kasich had won, it would have turned purple.
If Hillary Clinton wins later, it’ll be dark blue. If Bernie Sanders does, it’ll be light blue.
The Twitter reactions to the first color change ranged from “wait why would you do this” to “oh Lord this is a premonition isn’t it?!” You can see some of the highlights below:

"We are turning the Empire State Building a dark, crimson red to signify Trump's victory. Blood red. Satanic. A warning, if you will"

If Clinton wins, ESB is lit up a sensible, business-like mauve. If Bernie wins, it's lit up to look like Trey Anastasio's face.

Over on MSNBC, Brian Williams noticed the color change but didn’t quite realize it was a CNN production.
