Twitter Just Can’t Get Enough Of a Face-Palming John Kelly Reacting to Trump’s UN Speech
During his address to the United Nations General Assembly today, President Donald Trump threatened to “totally destroy North Korea” because “Rocket Man is on a suicide mission,” referring to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. The president also claimed other countries were “going to hell” while delivering a speech that seemed more at home at one of his campaign rallies as opposed to a gathering of world leaders.
Shortly after the speech, a photo from Mary Altaffer at the Associated Press showing White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s reaction began making the rounds. Why? Well, just look at it:

And the internet just had a field day with it.
Writer Nick Ross noted this was just the latest in a series of Kelly looking quite disappointed while the president spouted off:

Something Buzzfeed’s Tasneem Nashrulla also noted:

And Mediaite alum Andrew Husband felt that we’ll eventually get to read Kelly ripping the White House and Trump:
Where can I put my $30 down for John Kelly’s inevitable, scathing autobiography of his White House tenure? https://t.co/0n8V0njbUS

The Washington Examiner’s Kyle Feldscher wondered if Kelly was suffering through an existential crisis while listening to the speech:

The New York Times’ Max Fisher made a pretty apt pop culture reference:

And others just had a whole lotta fun with the picture:

It has been reported that Kelly has attempted to rein in Trump since taking over as chief of staff from Reince Priebus this summer, with varying results. As Kelly has tried to implement a more rigid structure in the White House and helped push away some of the more controversial personalities from the administration, Trump is reportedly defying the former general in his own little ways, such as calling friends from his personal phone.
