Twitter Reacts After Trump Announces Syria Strike: ‘Rightly Calls Out Russia and Iran’

Twitter had a lot to say about President Trump‘s airstrike in Syria.
The president addressed the nation from the White House in a roughly eight-minute speech, announcing that the U.S. military was taking action against Syria after last week’s deadly chemical attack.
Reports of “huge blasts” are already coming in as President Trump addressed the nation. One saying it “sounds like WW3.”
Sounds like WW3 here #Damascus

Witnesses say explosions being heard in Damascus, according to Reuters. Strikes are underway, apparently.

Many on Twitter offered their thoughts on President Trump’s address as well as prayers for the military.
Interesting words on the US deployment in Syria: That does indeed sound like an open-ended deployment.

Key: Trump says military action will continue until use of chemical weapons stops. This is a notable promise to make and to keep. #Syria has used CW dozens of times in the last year.

It’s very rare for me to say this, but tonight, I agree with @realDonaldTrump on Russia.
— Michael McFaul (@McFaul) April 14, 2018
It’s highly unusual of Pres. Trump to give a speech explaining his actions. I think he’ll find it’s more effective than just tweeting. I hope he does it more often.

Solid remarks by @realDonaldTrump. Makes a moral and national security rationale for military action against Syria, works in conjunction w/ top allies. What Hillary or any other Republican would have done.

Prayers tonight for our men and women in uniform and for their families. They are the one who are called. They are prepared. And we are so damn lucky to have them protecting us. God bless them & the USA.

.@realdonaldtrump doing more for the Syrian people this evening than his predecessor did in 8 years

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, one of Trump’s fiercest critics, praised his “critical” decision, saying he struck the “right tone” in his remarks.
The president rightly calls out Russia and Iran for their support of the world’s most murderous regime. His decision to call out Putin by name may be long-delayed but is still critical.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) April 14, 2018
The president is striking the right tone regarding America’s fight against ISIS in Syria. America’s remarkable fighting force will remain in place but DJT looks forward to turning US effort over in the future to our regional allies.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) April 14, 2018
However, Trump didn’t receive all praise, even from those on the right.
I haven’t read France’s or Britain’s “Constitution,” but I’ve read ours and no where in it is Presidential authority to strike Syria.

Congrats Democrats and Never Trump:
You got your war!

He’s a corrupt buffoon who is untrustworthy in the extreme and it’s increasingly apparent treasonous. So even if he reads the right thing off the prompter or makes one good decision in Syria, doesn’t change fact it’s extremely disturbing that he’s doing it. #analysis

“Sustained effort”?! Did this man just commit us to an open-ended conflict? #SyriaStrikes
