U.S. Capitol on Lockdown over Reports of Suicide (UPDATED)
The U.S. Capitol is currently on lockdown as police are responding to what’s reported to be a man committing suicide by shooting himself:

This unidentified individual reportedly shot himself on the west steps of the Capitol and there are also unconfirmed reports there was a suspicious package nearby.

Capitol Police: "Shots have been fired on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building. The suspected shooter has been neutralized."

Update- 4:57 pm EST: The lockdown was lifted at around 3:50 pm. Authorities confirmed an individual died of a self-inflicted gunshot.
