Veteran Anchor Brian Wilson Leaves Fox News – And “The Breakup Isn’t Pretty”

Brian Wilson is no longer a Fox News employee.

The reason for this has been the subject of several rumor-filled stories, involving knocking over cabinets and chair kicking. Whatever the case, the veteran anchor and reporter, who has been with FNC for 12 years, is no longer with the network.

The news was first reported by Howard Kurtz on Twitter: “BREAKING: Brian Wilson, a top DC political reporter for Fox, is leaving the network. No word yet on why. Follows Major Garrett departure…”

But later in the day, Kurtz had more about the “why.” “The breakup isn’t pretty,” wrote Kurtz, before launching into some insider comments:

Fox insiders say Wilson has had temper issues. In one story involving guns, they say, Wilson was furious after a producer removed the sound of gunfire from his taped piece, even going so far as to knock over file cabinets.

FishbowlDC has background on another situation:

Insider reports reveal that Wilson went haywire when a producer tried to replace a shot in one of his TV packages. Wilson reportedly “yelled” and “kicked a chair.” The producer then went to Human Resources to report the incident. Next thing you know, Diane Brandi, of legal affairs in New York, comes to Washington. Sources say Fox News employees said they wouldn’t feel comfortable if Wilson returned to Fox News.

Wilson hasn’t been on the air on Fox News since July 28, according to TV Eyes.

While the turnover continues at the D.C. bureau, with Major Garrett leaving recently as well, the way Garrett and Wilson exited has been vastly different. Garrett moved over the National Journal, and left on good terms with the network.
