Watch: Kim Jong Un Hosts Extravagant Gala to Celebrate North Korea’s H-Bomb Test

After putting most of the world on edge over what appears to be a successful hydrogen bomb test, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un hosted a huge celebration as a way to say thank you to the nuclear scientists and techs behind the bomb, according to the country’s official news agency.

KCNA didn’t say when the gala had been held, but Reuters noted that analysts believe it occurred over the weekend. The banquet included an art performance and a photo session with Kim Jong Un.

In a short video clip from the celebration that was tweeted by CNN’s Will Ripley, one of the only Western reporters in North Korea, it appears that Kim Jong Un is smiling and laughing while video is shown purporting to be the successful H-bomb test.

And, of course, after the nuclear test is shown to the audience, they all rise for a standing ovation while a symphony plays.
