WATCH LIVE: Trump Holds News Conference on Congressional Spending Bill
President Donald Trump will hold a news conference today where he will most likely confirm whether he will sign the new omnibus congressional budget or allow the government to shut down. The news conference is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Even though GOP leadership and the White House’s staff said Trump would approve the new spending bill, the president announced on Twitter that he actually might not sign it before the midnight deadline. Trump’s leading complaints about the wall is that it doesn’t provide funding for the border wall (which Mexico is supposed to pay for), and it also doesn’t have a solution for DACA DREAMers (Trump rescinded the program last year).
It is not clear whether Trump will take questions, but if he does, another topic likely to arise is H.R. McMaster‘s replacement by incoming national security adviser John Bolton. The former U.N. ambassador-turned-Fox News contributor was hired by Trump last night in the latest staff shake-up under the administration. Trump will most likely be asked about Bolton’s foreign policy impact, particularly with regard to his hawkish approach to international issues.
