White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will meet the press corps in a briefing set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
What will be on today’s docket? Expect gun control to continue to be a hot button issue, with Sanders likely to be grilled about President Donald Trump‘s continued insistence that some teachers should be armed.
Earlier Tuesday, the Trump campaign naming Brad Parscale as his 2020 campaign manager, a move that has come pretty early into the presidency. Parscale’s digital operation in during the 2016 campaign, including any potential ties to Russian collusion, might also come up during the briefing.
Of course, before the Parkland shooting completely changed the national conversation, the president was embroiled in several scandals, most of which stemmed from White House aide Rob Porter being alleged to have physically abused two of his ex-wives. This led to unsettling information that over 100 staffers had not been given security clearance. It’s been something of a quiet week, so it’s entirely possible the Porter scandal and specifically Chief of Staff John Kelly’s suite of ideas to reshape the security clearance process could come up.
Due to this being a relatively scandal-free week, thus far, we could also see a question or two about policy, such as infrastructure.
