President Donald Trump will give an address today which is expected to focus on deregulation and economic growth. The speech is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EST.
Trump regularly cites deregulation as one of the most positive aspects of his presidency, and today’s event is likely to revolve around his argument that slashing federal oversight is a way to create jobs and stimulate growth. The president might also speak about the ongoing congressional efforts on tax reform, which would also supposedly improve things for businesses and taxpayers.
Trump’s speech comes after just after the Federal Communications Commission decided to end net neutrality and roll back several Obama-era guidelines for internet service providers. The topic has been of significant intrigue for the last few days, and there is still a heated debate about whether this decision will increase free-market competition without allowing web providers to suppress open networks, restrict the flow of information, or interfere with access to content.
