Watch Two College Basketball Players Hit Back-To-Back Halfcourt Shots to Win Free Tuition For Classmates

screen-shot-2016-10-25-at-10-23-10-am-1As he stepped up to the halfcourt circle, Eastern Tennessee State basketball players Devontavius Payne was asked how confident he was that he would make the mid-court shot he was about to attempt — which, if successful, would earn classmate Garrett Pack free tuition.

“He’s about to go to school for free,” Payne coolly said.

Payne took one dribble, ran up to the line, and launched his left-handed shot.

Nothing but net.

The fans erupted. Payne’s teammates mobbed him. It was pandemonium.

Imagine being T.J. Cromer — who, after all this pandemonium, had to step up next to try to hit a halfcourt shot for another student. Imagine being that other student, Jeremiah Pearson — cursing your luck that Payne wasn’t shooting for you.

Cromer just nodded and smiled as he moved to center court. When asked if he’d make the shot, he said simply, “Guraranteed.”

But he wouldn’t, right? He couldn’t. Back-to-back shots from halfcourt? Under that kind of pressure? Impossible.

Or not.

Cromer took two dribbles, launched a right-handed shot, and…

Nothing but net.
