‘After All the Stuff He’s Said About You?’ Cavuto Perplexed When Iowa Gov Says She’ll Support Trump as GOP Nominee

Fox News’ Neil Cavuto was perplexed when Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA) made it clear that she would vote for the GOP nominee no matter what, even in the face of all the nasty things Donald Trump has said about her.

Over the weekend, Trump again criticized Reynolds for being “disloyal” to him by supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). Trump claimed that his endorsement “saved” her campaign, and that she’s now the “least popular governor” in the country.

“Were you surprised, Governor, that Donald Trump mentioned you again on your support for Ron DeSantis, said that he, essentially, made you governor and kind of resented the fact that you dare to challenge him?” Cavuto asked Reynolds.

“It’s not about President Trump,” Reynolds answered. “It’s about who can step in on day one and really has the skill and the resolve to just turn this country around. And to reverse the madness and chaos that we’ve seen— ”

Cavuto interrupted, “But, were you surprised the way he made it sound, governor, like you owed him? He said the same thing about Ron DeSantis.”

“He’s going to say what he’s going to say. I’m just not focused on that. I’m focused on somebody who has a record of accomplishments, a true conservative that can serve for eight years. I think that’s really important. Just some consistency and stability.”

Cavuto then asked Reynolds if she’d vote for Trump if he wins the nomination, even though she has been so supportive of DeSantis.

“I’ve made it clear that I will. You know, I’m a Republican. All of the candidates running will be better than what we have — ”

“Even after all the stuff he’s said about you?” Cavuto pushed back.

“Yeah, well, because, you know, we’ve got to win. I mean, we’re a resilient people. This country is in trouble. Look at the southern border— ”

“I talked to a lot of people at that diner who said it’s not worth it. To go to Trump, no,” Cavuto said.

In the end, Reynolds said she still believed DeSantis would be the nominee.

“But, if it were Trump and Biden, you, the governor of Iowa, the very popular governor— ”

“I’m on record saying that and consistently saying that. I’m a Republican. We need to not— we need to make sure we don’t re-elect President Biden another four years,” Reynolds answered.
