Conservative Radio Host Says Trump Only Has Himself to Blame For Latest Supreme Court Loss: ‘This is on the Administration’

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson argued on Friday that President Donald Trump and his administration have no one to blame but themselves over the latest Supreme Court ruling against their use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport illegal immigrants.
The court ruled 7 to 2 to uphold a lower court ruling that the administration must give more time for immigrants to petition authorities before being deported and – in this case – indefinitely imprisoned in El Salvador’s notorious mega prison.
Erickson reacted by writing, “7-2. I told you so. You do not bring back Abrego Garcia, and the Supreme Court is going to shut down the whole operation. This is on the Administration.” Erickson referred to the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a migrant whom the Trump administration admitted it deported and imprisoned in El Salvador as the result of an “administrative error.” The administration continues to claim that Abrego Garcia was a gang member, although judges who have ruled on the case have insisted the evidence for any such claim is severely lacking.
The Supreme Court previously ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return to face a deportation process in the U.S.
“They should have brought back Garcia. But they signaled misfeasance then defiance,” Erickson added, arguing the court had little choice but to rein in the administration.
Former Republican Congressman Justin Amash offered a similar take. “7-2. Read the highlight. If you mock the Rule of Law and flaunt abuses of power, don’t be surprised when the Supreme Court takes that into account in its decisions,” Amash wrote.
Trump also quickly reacted to the decision and slammed the Supreme Court. “The Supreme Court has just ruled that the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members, and even those who are mentally insane, who came into our Country illegally, are not allowed to be forced out without going through a long, protracted, and expensive Legal Process, one that will take, possibly, many years for each person, and one that will allow these people to commit many crimes before they even see the inside of a Courthouse,” Trump raged, concluding:
In any event, thank you to Justice Alito and Justice Thomas for attempting to protect our Country. This is a bad and dangerous day for America!
All three of the Trump-appointed judges on the court ruled against the president.
