Fox Host Rips Trump Admin Taking Over More Businesses: ‘Don’t Want to Hear’ About ‘Socialism Ever Again’

Fox News host Jessica Tarlov pulled no punches on Monday in calling out a Trump administration official announcing on CNBC that the government was looking to take over more stakes in private companies – following last week’s 10 percent takeover of Intel.

“OK, so we should expect the U.S. Government to be taking more equity stakes in businesses around the country. That is something that if you’re a CEO this morning watching us, you should say, ‘OK, the sovereign wealth fund may be coming and trying to effectively buy some kind of equity stake?’” CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin asked National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett.

“It’s possible, yeah, that’s absolutely right. In the past, the federal government has been giving money away lickety-split to companies and the taxpayers have received nothing in return. And so now what’s happening with the Intel deal is the CHIPS Act money is going out as planned, but instead of it just going out and disappearing into the ether, the U.S. taxpayers are getting a little bit of equity,” Hassett replied, adding:

Really don’t see how anyone would think that’s a bad thing, unless you thought that the government was then gonna go in and run the company, but these are gonna be shares that don’t have voting rights. The government’s gonna stay out of it.

Tarlov shared the clip and commented, “I don’t want to hear a single word about Democrats and socialism ever again. EVER.”

The liberal co-host of Fox’s The Five wasn’t the only one who weighed in; below are some additional reactions:
