A new Fox News poll out this week offered some good news to former President Donald Trump who maintained his lead in national polling over Kamala Harris by one point. The 50 to 49 percent lead Trump holds over Harris is in the poll’s margin of error, but differs from other recent polls like Emerson and Morning Consult that show Harris up by 4 and 3 points – respectively.

While the poll is no doubt a boost to the beleaguered Trump, the survey carried some brutal findings for his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). The poll found that only 38 percent of those surveyed had a favorable view of Vance, while 51 percent viewed him unfavorably, putting him in a 13-point deficit.

Trump, meanwhile, had a 47 percent favorability rating and 53 percent unfavorability rating, a 6-point deficit. Trump had one of the highest unfavorable numbers of all those polled, behind President Joe Biden, who scored a whopping 61 percent unfavorability rating. When broken down by degree of unfavorability, both Biden and Trump tied with 46 percent “strongly” feeling that way about them.

Harris came in with a 48 percent favorability rating and a 51 percent unfavorable rating, putting her only 3-points underwater. Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, meanwhile had a net positive rating as 41 percent viewed him favorably and only 39 percent saw him unfavorably – with 16 percent saying they “never heard of” him.

Fox’s August poll was conducted between the 9th and the 12th among 1,105 registered voters and carried a 3-point margin of error.
