GOP Congressman Tells Fox’s Varney Ukraine is All But a Lost Cause: ‘We’re Not Gonna See a Victory’
Fox Business host Stuart Varney pressed hard right Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) on whether or not the GOP, particularly his MAGA allies, are willing to let Russia win its brutal war in Ukraine.
Perry began by tearing into the Biden administration for its policies on the southern border, claiming it’s a “border with terrorists pouring into the United States.”
Varney then asked, “Are you prepared to lose Ukraine or, bottom line, have Putin win in Ukraine because of the because of the border? Are you unwilling to change anything? Well, you sort of say they could lose in Ukraine unless we get action on the border. Is it that way?”
“No, we don’t. We don’t want to lose Ukraine,” Perry shot back.
“But, they might. They might lose,” noted Varney as Perry spoke.
“But the question for Democrats and Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden are is it worth it to save? Or because you’re probably not going to really save Ukraine? Let’s face it, they’re not winning the war over there against Russia, which is massively overpowering them,” Perry said, seeming to surprise Varney somewhat.
“Are you writing them off?” Varney pressed.
“But the question is, are you willing to spend billions of dollars? No, we’re not writing them off. But are you willing to essentially write off America and America’s border to send $65 billion to Ukraine, for which we’re never going to see anything come back from, and we’re not going to see a victory for. We have asked the Biden administration for their strategy for victory, for their strategy for anything in Ukraine. We have yet to receive it,” Perry concluded.
Perry’s remarks come some of his fellow hardliners, pro-Trump House Republicans are raising eyebrows for their comments regarding Russia and Ukraine. Ex-Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) dubbed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) “Moscow Marjorie” on CNN Monday night for her recent move to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for signaling openness to sending more military aid to Ukraine to fight off Vladimir Putin. Greene also told Steve Bannon on Monday that Ukraine is “attacking” Christianity while Russia is “protecting it” – a wild claim that was quickly fact-checked online.
