Journalist Max Blumenthal confronted Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) face-to-face over his social media posts calling for the killing of civilians in Gaza on Tuesday.
“Max Blumenthal from the Grayzone. You’ve been a big supporter of killing civilians in Gaza,” said Blumenthal after ambushing the congressman. “I was wondering, how long do you think you would last under the starvation conditions that Israel has imposed in Gaza? Like, have you ever put yourself in the shoes of the people of Gaza who are starving?”
Fine responded, “I don’t believe in those who believe that they should keep hostages. If Gaza wants the war to end, they should let the hostages go. You take hostages, you get what’s coming.”
“Do you think you’re encouraging anti-Semitism by these kinds of comments supporting the killing of children, supporting nuking Gaza?” press Blumenthal.
As Fine began to ignore the journalist, Blumenthal questioned, “Why can’t he do an adversarial interview? I thought you were the Hebrew Hammer. You seem more like the Hebrew Scammer.”
Fine – who currently sells merchandise branding himself as “the Hebrew Hammer” – has received backlash from Democrats and Republicans over his repeated remarks calling for the killing of civilians in Gaza.
During a May appearance on Fox News, Fine suggested that Gaza needed to be “nuked” like Hiroshima to force an “unconditional surrender.” Fine has also referred to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) as “terrorists,” criticized the term “innocent Palestinian civilians,” and celebrated the prohibition of food and other aid to Palestinian civilians.
“Blow up the schools. No mercy. #BombsAway,” wrote Fine in one 2024 social media post about Gaza, while in February, he declared, “There are demons that live on Earth. They deserve no state. They only deserve death.”
This week, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called on Congress to censure Fine and strip him of “all committee assignments due to his incitement of hatred and violence against Muslims and Palestinians, including fellow members of Congress.”
