Kathy Hochul Hammers Trump on Involvement in NYC Mayoral Race: ‘We Are Not F*cking Selling Out This City’

Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) hammered President Donald Trump’s involvement in the upcoming New York City mayoral race on Friday, telling Politico’s Jeff Coltin, “We are not f*cking selling out this city.”

Hochul’s statement comes after news broke that Trump reportedly offered two candidates in the race — incumbent NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Republican challenger Curtis Sliwa — jobs in his administration with the hope that a two-candidate race might boost the chances of Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo was easily overshadowed by front-runner Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani in the Democratic Primary earlier this year, whom Trump has repeatedly called “a communist.”

In a televised appearance today, Hochul added, “Contrary to what the president thinks, he’s not a king. He’s not a kingmaker, and he should not be anointing the next mayor of New York City.”

Mamdani has also responded to Trump’s reported involvement in the race, challenging the president to a debate in a statement to the New York Post on Thursday. “Why should I debate Donald Trump’s puppet when I could debate Donald Trump himself?” said Mamdani in response to Cuomo’s call to hold debates in each borough of New York.

As of now, it seems Adams is staying in the race, confirming Friday to Fox News that “no formal offer has been made” from the Trump administration.

“While I will always listen if called to serve our country, no formal offers have been made. I am still running for reelection and my full focus is on the safety and quality of life of every New Yorker,” he said.
