Marjorie Taylor Greene Declares, ‘Federal Employees Do Not Deserve Their Paychecks’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) trashed federal workers on Tuesday, stating that none of them “deserve” paychecks.
She has praised the mass federal layoffs initiated by Republican megadonor Elon Musk, who is leading the “Department of Government Efficiency,” an informal organization that has fired thousands of federal employees.
The moves have prompted outcry from Democrats and some voters, the latter of whom have ripped their Republican members of Congress at town halls across the country.
During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Greene, who makes $174,000 per year as a member of Congress, criticized members of the federal bureaucracy and said they do not have “real jobs.”
“You can protest all you want, but the American people disagree with you,” Greene said, addressing Democrats. “The bureaucracy is not a business. Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue. By the way, they’re consuming taxpayer dollars. Those jobs are paid for by the American tax people who work real jobs, earn real income, pay federal taxes, and then pay these federal employees. Federal employees do not deserve their jobs. Federal employees do not deserve their paychecks.”

Some Republicans have reveled in the mass layoffs. Fox News host Laura Ingraham struck a similar note on Monday night.
“How do you resurrect your party, though, by protecting red tape and the bureaucracy?” Ingraham said. “By trying to gin up sympathy for federal workers who need to get real jobs in the real world like most of America.”
