Mika Brzezinski Declares Pro-Palestinian College Protests ‘Look Like January 6’

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski admonished students taking part in pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, declaring they’ve gone “into the realm of violence” and “look like January 6.”

Anti-Defamation League head Jonathan Greenblatt joined Morning Joe on Tuesday and said Jewish students are “scared,” citing reports of weapons being brandished and buildings being broken into. His organization has said there has been a surge in reports of antisemitisim amid the protests.

Many protests have turned into encampments on campus, leading to police involvement. More than 100 students, including the daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), were arrested at a Columbia University protest in New York.

Brezinski reacted to footage from protests by saying they reminded her of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“That’s the place we’ve all been sitting in, watching this, going, ‘What the hell is going on? What are these universities doing? Why aren’t they doing something?’ And I’ll echo the horror that this does look like January 6th. What a terrible example for our students,” she said.

Brzezinski told students they risking their “future and education” with the encampments as arrests and suspensions will likely lead to expulsions.

The Morning Joe co-host said the activist students need to “watch the news” and put their efforts towards setting up debates on the Israel-Hamas conflict on campus. Protesters have demanded President Joe Biden support an immediate ceasefire to end Israel’s strikes in Gaza and that their schools completely divest from any Israel connections.

Israel’s strikes have led to thousands of civilian deaths in Gaza as they press forward in their mission to eliminate Hamas. The terror group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing more than 1,000 and kidnapping hundreds.

“I think these college students obviously are missing the part where they need to see what’s going on across the country with these protests, that it’s now in the realm of violence, it’s in the realm of hatred whether some are peaceful or not,” she said. “They need to watch the news and look at all the different arguments and be adults or start learning to be adults.”
