MSNBC Panelist: Trump’s Like Someone ‘Thrashing Right Before They Start to Go Under’

During an MSNBC panel on Donald Trump‘s border wall plans, an MSNBC panelist suggested that the president is like someone who is “thrashing” before they go down.

The comment was made during a discussion of his border control tweet and if the panel thought Trump would actually shut down the government try to get his wall.

This morning, Trump tweeted out this:

Yet, according to Democratic strategist Emily Tisch Sussman, that is all just part of the presidential flailing.

“I feel like what we’re seeing right now is when someone’s thrashing right before they start going under,” she said. “He’s just thrashing anything he possibly can so that he can try to get some sort of win out of this. He knows he is in an un-winnable political position. If he does kick the can down the road, which is very likely, he would have to face a house led by Democrats, most likely by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Part of the impact of having Democrats coming in controlling one house of Congress is there’s no longer a blank check for whatever trump says.”

She also pointed out that if a shutdown occurs the impact could be felt all the way to Mar-a-Lago and even at the border since those furloughed will include, border patrol, ICE, TSA agents during holiday travel and even his own “Secret Service agents who will be protecting him at Mar-a-Lago.”

She added: “The optics of that are terrible. He must be hearing that on the inside as well.”
