Navy Veteran Confronts Marjorie Taylor Greene Over Military Comments: ‘You’re a Shame’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was confronted at a campaign stop earlier this week by a constituent and Navy veteran who asked her about past comments he said disparaged the U.S. military and his own service.

The man, identified as Chickamauga resident Aleq Boyle by WTVC, asked Greene at the Monday event in Trion, Georgia about a past controversial comment in which the Republican said joining the military now is like “throwing your life away.”

Asked what she meant by those comments, Greene went into a political rant against wokeism and Joe Biden’s administration.

“I was talking about how the leadership of this country caused 13 [U.S. service members] to get killed in [the] Afghanistan [withdrawal], which I’m sure as a veteran, that upsets you,” she said as the man waited for his answer. “They armed the Taliban. They now have training in the military, woke training —”

“Wait a minute, wait a minute, that has nothing to do with my service,” the man said as the two talked over each other repeatedly.

“I was talking about today’s military. You’ve gotten that twisted, and I’m sorry for that,” Greene informed the man.

Boyle said he heard exactly what she said and went on to call her a “shame” to the Congress.

“You are disrespecting the United States Congress and you’re a shame,” he said.

As someone in the pro-Greene crowd told Boyle he’s been watching “fake news,” the veteran said to Greene he’d voted for one of her challengers in the primary.

“I’m really horribly saddened that the 14th district has gone to such craziness, but hopefully we’re going to make that correction,” he said.

The disagreement ends nicely enough with the two Georgians begrudgingly shaking each other’s hands and offering a “God bless you” before going their separate ways.

Greene’s “throwing your life away” comments stem from an interview with former Fox Business host Lou Dobbs last month in which the Republican congresswoman claimed most young people “don’t want to have anything to do” with the military out of objection to policies like Covid-19 vaccine mandates and modern woke training.
