‘Pete Hegseth is a JOKE!’ Gavin Newsom Goes Off on Trump’s ‘Band of Misfits’ — Says America’s ‘Reputation is at Stake’
“Pete Hegseth is a JOKE!”
Governor Gavin Newsom ratcheted up the war of words to new levels Monday during an interview with progressive Internet personality Brian Tyler Cohen.
As peaceful protests evolve into burning cars and riots on the streets of Los Angeles, President Donald Trump is taking credit for keeping the city from burning down completely because he “SENT IN THE TROOPS!” controversially commandeering the California National Guard to help the LAPD, despite the protests of Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass.
Secretary of Defense Hegseth has also become a character in “The Riot Show,” as he and the California Governor exchanged bitter insults with one another over social media.
It is in this context that Tyler Cohen asked Newsom, “Do you have any confidence that Pete Hegseth will be as principled as [former Defense Secretary under Trump] Mark Esper was?”
“Pete Hegseth is a joke,” Newsom replied. “He’s a joke, everybody knows it, it’s so in over his head, what an embarrassment.”
“That’s this guy’s weakness — masquerading his strength … I don’t even know he masquerades his strength,” he continued. “I mean it’s a serious moment.”
“I mean this [Border Czar Tom] Homan guy, these guys, it just, it, it’s the band of misfits, I mean it really is, this is serious,” he added. “The people’s lives are at stake, the reputation of this country is at stake.”
“We’re in American cities and states. It’s not just, this is a preview for things to come. This isn’t about LA per se, it’s about us today. It’s about you, everyone watching tomorrow. I promise you,” he continued. “I mean, this guy’s unhinged. Donald Trump is unhinged right now. And this is just another proof point of that.”
