Peter Navarro Presser After Jail Sentencing Derailed By Protestors With Cowbells and Whistles: ‘Navarro is a Liar!’

After his four month jail sentence, Peter Navarro’s press conference outside a DC courthouse was derailed by protesters wielding whistles and cowbells.

U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta sentenced the former aide to former President Donald Trump to four months in jail on Thursday for contempt of Congress over his refusal to comply with a Congressional subpoena. Navarro refused to appear before Congress to testify before the House committee investigating the January 6th, 2021 Capitol attack.

Following the sentence, Navarro appeared outside the courthouse to give his remarks to the press. However, the former White House aide was barely able to get one clear sentence out due to a onslaught of noise by protesters with cowbells and whistles.

“So I’m going to say a few words and you have several of these fine attorneys, behind me,” Navarro said before protesters with whistles and cowbells begun interrupting his remarks. The protesters also held signs that read, “Lock him up” and “Peter Navarro is a liar.”

At one point, Navarro’s attorney stepped him and advised him in front of the cameras to cut his remarks short because the protesters were keeping him from “having a straight thought.”

Before the press conference ended, Navarro vowed to appeal the decision and claimed his case was “destined for the Supreme Court.” After his conviction, Navarro requested a new trial, claiming the jury who ruled against him held a bias, but that request was denied earlier this month.

On top of his four month sentence, the judge also gave Navarro a $9,500 fine.
