Reports: Donald Trump to Select Mike Pence as Running Mate

penceA variety of sources Thursday reported that Donald Trump will select Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate Friday.

Roll Call reports that “Donald Trump is planning to announce that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his choice for his vice presidential running mate, according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the decision. As Trump narrowed in on his choice of Pence, the two men spent time at both Trump’s golf resort in New Jersey in early July and at the Indiana governor’s mansion this week.”

Shortly afterward, The New York Times reported the same: “Donald J. Trump’s campaign has signaled strongly to Republicans in Washington that he will pick Mike Pence, the governor of Indiana, as his running mate, though Republicans caution the party’s mercurial presidential candidate may still backtrack on his apparent choice.”

Meanwhile, a source tells CNN that Trump is “leaning” towards Pence.

“…Until an offer is made and accepted, nothing is for certain in this very fluid situation,” CNN warns. “The Trump adviser cautioned Trump’s leaning could change.”

The reports come after an Indiana GOP insider told The Washinton Times that he was “95% sure” that Trump would pick Pence, saying that other Indiana Republicans are preparing runs for Pence’s soon-to-be-vacant seat.
