Republican Senator Caught Agreeing with Biden SOTU Line That Other Republicans Booed: ‘That’s True’

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) was caught agreeing with President Joe Biden and mouthing, “That’s true” on Thursday after Biden ripped Republicans for tanking a bipartisan border deal.

During his State of the Union address, Biden said, “In November, my team began serious negotiations with a bipartisan group of senators. The result was a bipartisan bill with the toughest set of border security reforms we’ve ever seen.”

After a group of House and Senate Republicans could be heard protesting his remarks, Biden said, “Oh, you don’t think so? Oh, you don’t like that bill, huh? That conservatives got together and said it was a good bill? I’ll be darned. That’s amazing.”

He continued, “That bipartisan bill would hire 1,500 more security agents and officers, 100 more immigration judges to help tackle the backlog of two million cases, 4,300 more asylum officers, and new policies so they can resolve cases in six months instead of six years now. What are you against?”

Lankford – who helped craft the bipartisan border bill – could be seen nodding his head in agreement and saying, “That’s true.”

The border bill was blocked in the Senate last month after it was opposed by Republicans who claimed it would allow up to 5,000 migrants to enter the country per day – a claim Lankford repeatedly disputed. Former President Donald Trump urged Republicans to oppose the bill.

Lankford accused his colleagues of tanking the bill in an effort to stop Biden from getting a border victory during an election year.
