‘These Kinds of Numbers Are Unheard of’: Martha MacCallum Marvels at Trump’s Lead Over Biden with Latinos

Fox News’ Martha MacCallum kicked off her show on Wednesday by marveling at presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s comfortable lead over President Joe Biden with Latino voters.

“This is the story: President Biden telling Latino voters, I need your help desperately. He is trailing former President Trump by six among Latinos,” began MacCallum, citing a New York Times/Siena College poll showing Trump with 46%-40% lead over Biden among the demographic.

“These kinds of numbers are unheard of in Republican versus Democrat politics,” she declared. “So the president is about to speak in Phoenix. It’s part of a three state swing tour to court Latino voters — at least in part. He is also hitting Nevada, he will also go to Texas.”

At a campaign event held at an Arizona restaurant earlier in the day, Biden told an audience of Latinos that they were “the reason why, in large part, I beat Donald Trump.”

“Let’s beat him again,” he added.

Biden went on to say, “I need you. I need you badly. I need the help. Kamala and I desperately need your help, because, look, there’s only about six or seven states that are going to determine the outcome of this election. They’re toss-up states, and this is one of them.”

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Trump leads Biden by over five points in the Grand Canyon State and by more than four points in Nevada. In 2020, it is estimated that somewhere around 60% of Latinos voted for Biden over Trump, which suggests that Biden has lost quite a lot of ground with the core Democratic constituency over the course of his presidency.

In the Times/Siena survey, 37% of Hispanic respondents said that Trump’s policies as president had helped them personally while just 22% indicated that his policies had hurt them. Just 15% of the same group said Biden’s policies had helped them, while 36% said they had been harmful.
