Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tore into Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which dropped on X Thursday night.

“Around the world, people are watching that ludicrous interview with Vladimir Putin conducted by Tucker Carlson and we must not fall for this tissue of lies above all for the notion that Putin is somehow fated to succeed in Ukraine, on the contrary, he is doomed to failure,” Johnson argued in a clip posted with his latest Daily Mail column.

Johnson, a member of the Conservative Party, pulled no punches in the column as well, beginning, “When Tucker Carlson went to the Kremlin he had a function well known to history. He was to be the stooge of the tyrant, the dictaphone to the dictator, and a traitor to journalism.”

“In his fawning, guffawing, slack-jawed happiness at having a ‘scoop’, he betrayed his viewers and listeners around the world,” Johnson continued, referring to the two-hour interview Carlson filmed inside the Kremlin.

“He didn’t ask tough questions. He didn’t ask Putin why even now he is using the most brutal means of modern warfare to maim and murder innocent Ukrainian civilians,” Johnson followed up.

Carlson spent much of the interview allowing Putin to push his narrative for why his brutal invasion of Ukraine was justified. Carlson even went so far as to urge his viewers to give Putin the benefit of the doubt, despite the former KGB agent’s long history of deception and public vows to destroy American power.
