President Donald Trump made one final call Tuesday for voters in Minnesota to help MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell win the state’s Republican primary.
Lindell ran in a crowded field that included Kendall Qualls and Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth.
The latest poll from SurveyUSA had Lindell leading the pack at 34%. Trailing behind Lindell was Demuth at 28% and Qualls at 17%. The remaining 21% of survey participants selected neither of the three.
On the day of Minnesota’s primary elections, Trump said on Truth social:
Mike Lindell deserves a BIG WIN IN MINNESOTA today. Nobody has worked harder, and given up so much, in fighting for free and fair Elections. Go out, NOW, and VOTE for Mike Lindell for Governor. He will not let you down. Thank you! President DJT
Lindell first launched his campaign in December with an announcement on Steve Bannon’s War Room. The MyPillow CEO vowed to protect Minnesotans from “rampant fraud under Governor Walz” and “unnecessary regulation that strangle the entrepreneurial spirit.”
The notorious election denier, who reached a confidential settlement in June after Dominion Voting Systems sued him for defamation, received Trump’s endorsement days later.
Other Republicans, however, were not as enthusiastic about Lindell’s gubernatorial bid.
Party strategists were concerned Lindell could potentially sink their chances of putting a Republican in the Governor’s Mansion, with one even claiming Lindell would “lose pretty badly” to whichever Democrat he’d face in the general election.
Additionally, it was revealed that Lindell wasn’t even registered to vote in Minnesota.
Should Lindell win, he’d take on U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar — who ran virtually unopposed — in November.
The most recent polling for the general election showed Klobuchar’s lead over Lindell was greater than her lead over Demuth. In June, she led Lindell by 17 points while maintaining just an 8-point lead over the House Speaker.
