When President Donald Trump isn’t busy conducting the typical business that comes with being the commander-in-chief, he has time to report on the television business.
Case in point: On Tuesday morning, Trump reported that late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are soon to be let go from their positions hosting shows on ABC and NBC, following news that CBS has canceled The Late Show, which is hosted Stephen Colbert. Further, Trump relished the idea that he may be in some way responsible.
Trump took to Truth Social and reported, “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone.”
“These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television,” he continued. “It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”

Fallon and Kimmel each showed support to their late night competitor, Colbert, after news broke that he was canceled.
While some conservative media voices have lauded Colbert’s firing as something of a “cleanse” of anti-Trump or progressive political voices on mainstream television, there are a number of critics that are stunned and concerned that these moves represent an effective campaign to silence Trump’s critics from the White House.
Trump’s eagerness to take credit for their firing seems to only underline that concern.
