Trump Trashes His Own ‘Distorted’ Portrait, Blames ‘Radical Left’ Governor: ‘Should Be Ashamed of Himself’

President Donald Trump blasted the below portrait of himself on Sunday, calling it “purposefully distorted” and attacking Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat, for it being placed at the state’s Capitol building. Trump said the below portrait of former President Barack Obama, in comparison, “looks wonderful.”
It’s not clear what specifically prompted the late night complaint about his portrait in Colorado, which was unveiled in 2019 during his first term in office. Although he praised the Obama portrait, it too has faced some social media criticism in the past.
Both works were created by artist Sarah Broadman (see comparison below). Trump said in his social media post that she must have “lost her talent as she got older.
“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump wrote. “The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older.”
For comparison, here are the two portraits as displayed by the artist on her website.

Trump wrote Sunday that he “would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it!”
He concluded by taking a shot at Polis on crime and the violent drug gang which has been at the center of the controversy and court cases over the deportation flights.
“I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down,” Trump wrote. “Jared should be ashamed of himself!”
The portrait of former president Joe Biden, unveiled in March of 2024, was created by a different artist.
