Trump Threatens to ‘Close the Border Permanently’ Amid Border Clashes With Migrants

President Donald Trump doubled down on his threat to close the southern U.S. border amid recent unrest from Central American migrants amassed in the border town of Tijuana, California.

Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!

Trump had previously threatened to shut down the Southern Border after a Thanksgiving teleconference call with U.S. troops stationed around the world.

After the call ended, a reporter asked the Commander in Chief to clarify a previous comment and asked: “do you mean the entire border?”

“The whole border. I mean the whole border,” the President replied. “And Mexico will not be able to sell their cars into the United States where they make so many at great benefit to them — not a great benefit to us, by the way. But at least now we have a good new trade deal with Mexico and with Canada. But we will close the border. And that means that Mexico is not going to be able to sell their cars into the United States until it’s open.”

“We’re going to either have a border or we’re not. And when they lose control of the border on the Mexico side, we just close the border,” he repeated. “And we have a very powerful border. We built a very strong border in a very short period of time.”

Just four days later, the closing of the Southern border appears to be a political chit that the President is willing to turn in. Whether or not he has the constitutional power to accomplish that unchecked will surely be cable news fodder in the coming days.
