WH Cites Raves From ‘Liars and Leakers’ John Brennan and James Clapper in Release Touting CIA Pick Gina Haspel

President Donald Trump once called former CIA Director John Brennan and former director of National Intelligence James Clapper “liars and leakers.”
Yet, it seems that Trump’s slam doesn’t always hold true, at least if he needs their words of praise to back up his CIA pick Gina Haspel.
Back in February, a fuming Trump had this to say on Twitter about the pair and others on his slam list du jour: “Little Adam Schiff, who is desperate to run for higher office, is one of the biggest liars and leakers in Washington, right up there with [James] Comey, [Mark] Warner, Brennan and Clapper! Adam leaves closed committee hearings to illegally leak confidential information. Must be stopped!”
Yet as members of the media, including CNN’s Kaitlan Collins quickly noted Wednesday, the White House seemed to think these “leakers and liars” comments were valid enough to help fill up a press release singing Haspel’s praises.
The inclusion of both of Clapper and Brennan’s quotes are even more bemusing because it was just days ago that Trump once again called out Clapper in a straight from Fox News quote insisting “Clapper lied.”
Brennan, responding directly to that tweet, then told Trump his hypocrisy knows “no bounds,” something that appears not to have sunk in at the White House considering just days later the press staff was sending out a release prominently featuring both the “lying machine” Clapper and Trump-slamming Brennan’s quotes to promote their cause.
