‘You Sound Woke’: Newsom’s Office Mocks Tomi Lahren’s Pearl Clutching At Nancy Mace Insult

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D) office called out MAGA pundit Tomi Lahren on Monday and accused her of sounding “woke” for protesting a social media post attacking Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).
The eyebrow-raising exchange began when Newsom’s account replied to a clip from MAGA activist Scott Presler urging GOP voter registration in Pennsylvania. Pressler wrote on X, “Republicans are 52,939 active voters away from flipping Pennsylvania. There are 1.1 million No Party Affiliated voters in Pennsylvania. Nothing would anger Governor Shapiro more than for the Commonwealth to turn red. Register as a Republican TODAY!”
Newsom’s office replied to Presler, who is openly gay, writing, “thank you, Nancy Mace.” Presler replied to Newsom’s office, “Thank you so much for helping make this video go viral!”
OutKick host Lahren also replied, writing, “New lows unlocked by @GavinNewsom and his team of losers.”
Newsom’s office clapped back at Lahren, writing, “you sound woke.” Newsom’s social media accounts have taken to mocking President Donald Trump’s posts in recent weeks and now appear to be going so far as to sarcastically deride “woke” behavior.
CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere quantified how Newsom’s new approach is doing at gaining eyeballs and reported over the weekend, “Newsom’s office has tracked one billion impressions over X, TikTok, Facebook and other social media, with millions of new followers — including for his GovPress alone on X, 150,000 followers and 127 million impressions since August 1.”
