PGA Pro Gets Unwanted Tips from a Man at the Golf Range in Cringe-Inducing Viral Clip
A PGA player was subjected to several minutes of unwanted advice from a man at a golf range in an awkward clip that became a viral hit overnight.
On Tuesday, professional golfer Georgia Ball posted a video online of the strange encounter. As she took a swing at the range, a man out of frame got her attention.
“Excuse me,” the man said. “What you’re doing there, you shouldn’t be doing that. You should be right through. Swing and follow through. You’re doing too slow on the way up and then back.”
Ball could have identified herself and made it known she was a professional. Instead, she kindly informed the man she was going through a swing change, which was why her swing was slow.
While explaining that, however, the man cut her off.
“No, I know but what you’re doing there is you’re coming back too slow,” he said. “You know, I’ve been playing golf for 20 years. What you need to do is follow through a lot quicker than what you’re doing now.”
Ball then briefly shot an awkward look into her camera before reminding him that she was going through a swing change. The man insisted she just “hit one” using his tips.
When she took a swing at normal speed, giving the man the impression that he actually helped.
“See how much better that was?” he said after Ball took her swing.
Again, she tried explaining that the top golfers in the world slow their swings when going through a swing change. The man again said he’d been playing for 20 years and encouraged her to remember his advice.
Throughout the exchange, Ball showed a remarkable amount of restraint. Making matters even worse is the fact that in addition to playing professionally, Ball is also a golf coach.
