Trump Fined $10,000 for Violating Gag Order Again in Civil Fraud Case

Former President Donald Trump was slapped with a $10,000 fine for again violating the gag order Judge Arthur Engoron placed on him in connection with his civil business fraud trial.

Last week, Trump was fined for $5,000 because his campaign website failed to take down the image of a now-deleted Truth Social post where Trump disparaged Engoron’s law clerk. This was two weeks after Engoron put Trump under a limited gag order that forbade him from making attacks on his prosecutors, the court staff, or the case’s witnesses.

On Wednesday, during a break in the trial, Trump spoke to reporters and complained “This judge is a very partisan judge, with a person who’s very partisan sitting alongside of him, perhaps even much more partisan than he is.” Engoron called Trump to the witness stand to question him on this, and he imposed a new fine on the former president after determining a violation of his gag order.

Trump and his lawyer claimed that he was making those comments about Michael Cohen, his former fixer who was at the trial to testify against his old boss. Trump’s rants against Cohen have prompted further questions about whether that was also a violation of his gag order.
