April Ryan Confronts Sarah Sanders About Trump Sanctuary Cities Tweet: ‘What Did He Mean By Breeding?’
CNN’s April Ryan pulled no punches getting right to the bottom of a tweet President Donald Trump sent about sanctuary cities which ominously used the term “breeding”:
There is a Revolution going on in California. Soooo many Sanctuary areas want OUT of this ridiculous, crime infested & breeding concept. Jerry Brown is trying to back out of the National Guard at the Border, but the people of the State are not happy. Want Security & Safety NOW!

“What did he mean by breeding?” Ryan asked.
“The president has recognized that this is a major problem,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. “A lot of people even in California want to see the issue of sanctuary cities addressed. The president is doing what he can to do that.”
Ryan was clearly far from satisfied with this answer and followed-up: “What does breeding mean to this president? Because when you think of breeding, you think of animals breeding, populating.”
“I’m not going to think what you think,” Sanders replied to an incredulous, frustrated Ryan. “Breeding can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. The president is talking about a growing problem.”
After saying she had nothing else to add, Sanders then answered a question about Afghanistan and Pakistan, and then moved on to take a question from CNN contributor Brian Karem, who picked up right where Ryan left off.
“Just to define what the president meant about breeding. To be specific, he’s not talking about people having babies, yes?”
“Not that I’m aware of, I’d have to ask him to dig into that deeper,” Sanders said with a chuckle.
