Bill Maher Mocks Musk-Hating Liberals Burning Tesla EVs: ‘Like Drag Queens Attacking Wigs’

Bill Maher joked during his Friday night monologue that astronauts who just spent nine months marooned aboard the International Space Station are reeling after discovering Elon Musk and Tesla are now enemies of the left.

The Real Time host also joked that arson attacks against Teslas as part of the left’s backlash against Musk would, at one point, have been as difficult to imagine as “drag queens” going on a warpath against wigs.

As Musk’s work for President Donald Trump entered its third month this week, his electric vehicle company became the target of boycotts. Some who feel aggrieved by the billionaire’s slashing of government jobs and budgets have taken things further than selling or refusing to buy Teslas.

The vehicles have been vandalized – and in some cases, shot at and firebombed in parking lots and at dealerships.

During his monologue, Maher poked fun at Trump, Musk, leftwing activists, and drag queens:

Elon, he has his problems. Liberals are furious at Elon, so they are burning Teslas. Have you seen this? All sorts of demonstrations. Burning Teslas. I tell you, those two astronauts who were up in space for nine months and just got back, they must be like, “Wait, the liberals hate Tesla now?” It’s like – It’s like drag queens attacking wigs.

American astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams returned to Earth this week after spending the better part of a year in space. The duo’s short trip was extended when their Boeing spacecraft was deemed unsafe.

Musk’s SpaceX launched a crew to bring Wilmore and Williams home last Friday.

During the nine months the two were in space, Trump won the 2024 election and tapped Musk to run DOGE to controversially shrink the size and scope of the federal government.
