MSNBC’s Chris Hayes apologized tonight for taking his 8 pm rival Bill O’Reilly out of context in a Confederate flag discussion.
Earlier this week, in discussing the flag, O’Reilly said that to some in the South, the Confederate flag represents the “bravery” of their forefathers, moreso than slavery.
Hayes brought up O’Reilly’s comment, but ascribed that feeling to O’Reilly himself, instead of how O’Reilly was characterizing others. O’Reilly got pretty pissed off last night, called out Hayes, and said he’s the “biggest failure in cable news.”
Hayes took a minute tonight to correct the record and say, “We should not have attributed that view to him. Fair is fair. I got it wrong, I apologize.”
