Dana Loesch Rips Meryl Streep: Her Silence On Harvey Weinstein ‘Marginalized’ His Victims
On Thursday night, Dana Loesch went after Meryl Streep for her remarks on the sexual misconduct scandals that have plagued Hollywood in recent months.
When asked during a recent interview about her response to the allegations that were made against disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein, she deflected to the “silence” of First Lady Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump and urged them to speak out. Streep claims she was never aware of the accusations of sexual assault and rape that were made against Weinstein, despite having a decades-long collaborative relationship.
Well, Loesch isn’t buying it.
The conservative radio show host defended Ivanka Trump, saying she had “harsher words” for Roy Moore than Streep ever had for Weinstein or accused child rapist Roman Polanski, who she gave a standing ovation when he won an Oscar back in 2003.
“Meryl Streep is at the apex of Hollywood and it is ludicrous for anyone to think or for her to expect anyone to think that she was completely ignorant of Harvey Weinstein’s serial predation of women,” Loesch said.
Loesch then claimed that Streep’s own silence of Weinstein “actually helped to marginalize” all of Weinstein’s victims and that she “enabled predators” in Hollywood because to her career “was more important than the dignity of so many women in Hollywood.”
She also cautioned the direction of the #MeToo movement by criticizing those who’ve used it for being “catcalled,” something she stressed is far different than being brutally raped.
“The fear I think with the #MeToo movement is that it is diluted and that everyday occurrences are being made to look as though everything is sexual assault, everything is sexual harassment, and it’s an attack on men,” Loesch continued. “And then what ultimately happens is — it diminishes the real struggle and the real tragedy that actual victims of sexual violence have had to endure, which is unfortunate. And maybe, perhaps, that wasn’t the original goal or the original intent, but if not careful, that could be the ultimate result.”
