Democrat Defends Himself on CNN for Calling Elon Musk a ‘Dick’ in Committee Hearing

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) did not shy away from his critique of Elon Musk as a “dick” when confronted by a CNN host on Wednesday.

During a meeting of the House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, Garcia recalled the time Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) – who chairs the committee – held up an image of a nude Hunter Biden.

“Now, I find it ironic, of course, that our chairwoman, Congresswoman Greene, is in charge of running this committee. Now, in the last Congress, Chairwoman Greene literally showed a dick pic in our oversight congressional hearing,” he said before displaying a photo of Musk. “So, I thought I’d bring one as well. Now, this, of course, we know is president Elon Musk. He’s also the world’s richest man. He was the biggest political donor in the last election. He has billions of dollars in conflicts of interest.”

Later, Garcia appeared on CNN, where Brianna Keilar asked him about the stunt.

“[D]o you think that calling Elon Musk a ‘dick’ is effective messaging for confronting what is a potentially irreversible transformation of the U.S. government?” she asked.

“Well, he is a dick,” Garcia responded. “And I also think he’s harming the American public in an enormous way. And what I think is really important and what the American public want is for us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight. This is an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country. And it’s important to push back on the chairperson of this committee.”

Musk was tapped by President Donald Trump to lead the “Department of Government Efficiency,” which Musk has used to wage war on various government agencies he has deemed “wasteful.” The billionaire GOP donor has initiated a series of personnel cuts and spending freezes that have prompted lawsuits and several rulings against Trump and Musk.

Garcia went on to slam Musk for attempting to gut government agencies, concluding, “[I]t’s also important to get the attention of the American public and call Elon Musk out for what he is, and to make people know that Marjorie Taylor Greene is not a serious legislator, and she shouldn’t be treated as such.”
