Don Lemon Reacts to Parents Ranting Against School Mask Mandates: ‘Just Because You Can Have Kids, Does Not Mean You Should. Yeah, I Said It’

As children across the country start going back to school, a debate is raging in many places about whether to mandate that kids and school staff wear masks. In some cases, as Don Lemon highlighted on Wednesday, it’s not a debate so much as shouting and conspiracy-peddling.

The CNN host played a clip of a man who was literally screaming at a public hearing in Michigan on Tuesday. “Watch what’s comin’!” he yelled. “These, these mandates are against the Nuremberg Codes! The first one states voluntary informed consent! Are you a Nazi?!”

A perplexed Lemon asked, “Why so angry? It’s a mask.”

After letting out an exasperated sigh, he played footage from a school board meeting in South Carolina where one concerned parent said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control might turn schools into concentration camps:

The CDC is considering what is called the shielding approach to prevent Covid-19. It is a plan to shut down schools and to use them as camps to physically isolate men, women and children. Now, we know that concentration camps were something that the Nazis did, but it can come here at any moment, and we need to be aware.

Lemon reacted with quite the dig.

“Just because you can have kids, does not mean you should. Yeah, I said it.”

He added, “And it would be funny if it weren’t for the fact that people’s lives are at stake. The misinformation, the lies, they’re killing us.”
