Ex-WH Press Secretary Jay Carney: Pretty Clear Obama Wants Hillary Over Sanders
Former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said on CNN this afternoon it’s pretty clear President Obama would rather be succeeded by Hillary Clinton than Bernie Snaders.
The president has avoided making an official endorsement in the Democratic primary race yet, and Carney told Brooke Baldwin that’s deliberate.
However, he said, “I think the president has signaled, while still remaining neutral, that he supports Secretary Clinton’s candidacy and would prefer to see her as the nominee.”
Obama won’t actually embrace her, Carney added, until the nomination fight is settled.
